Invitation

This website contains links to software which is either no longer maintained or will be supported only until the end of 2019 (CKFinder 2). For the latest documentation about current CKSource projects, including software like CKEditor 4/CKEditor 5, CKFinder 3, Cloud Services, Letters, Accessibility Checker, please visit the new documentation website.

If you look for an information about very old versions of CKEditor, FCKeditor and CKFinder check also the CKEditor forum, which was closed in 2015. If not, please head to StackOverflow for support.

Behind a JavaScript, browser based editor there is a tremendous amount of work with a huge number of topics to be considered. We at FCKeditor are specialized and full time dedicated to it, exclusively.

We are in the early stages of the development of FCKeditor 3 (code name "V3"). V3 is to be written from scratch, inheriting our 5 years of experience providing one of the most used browser based text editors out there. It is to be developed based on cutting edge solutions and patterns in terms of programming and design.

This time though, we are not exclusively concentrated on ourselves to bring V3 to life. We have broader plans to it, because we want to provide the definitive solution for editing.

To come out with the dreamed solution (yes, we dream with those things here :), we understood that we can't be alone. We have instead to join our efforts with those who need, and are also looking for it. Fragmenting our energies is senseless.

For that, we have just started the Open Development Effort.

Who are we inviting?

We welcome any individual or company interested on participating. As more as better, as long as we are all focused on contributing with quality.

Internally, we'll be doing a proactive invitation effort targeting key projects and developers, who can deeply impact in the quality of our project, as well as on its proper diffusion. More users, more testers, more quality.

  • JavaScript Libraries / Frameworks: for those, the so called WYSIWYG editor is the strange monster that lies in the corner. Some decided to face it, but many prefer to stay away from it as well... it is a monster! Our intention is not only making an attractive editor that plays well with the number of libraries and frameworks at there. We want to provide the components needed to those frameworks so they can offer powerful editing features as part of their software. We are talking about a straight collaboration here.
  • Web Applications: most of today's web applications are required to offer rich text input to their end users. Some of them provide some rich features through a custom markup syntax using plain textarea fields. All of then are looking for the perfect solution for it, while lost, picking the first that, for some not so clear reason, looks good. We aim to make things clearer, participating actively with several important projects to capture their needs and collaborate to offer the definitive solutions.

How to join it?
