Funding and Sponsorship
Behind a browser based text editor, there is a huge and extremely complex software. The number of pages and topics found in the pages of this site can easily demonstrate the extension of this project. Being Open Source is another important aspect, which makes the project even bigger and much more complex to handle, as we have an extensive community around it, developers willing to help, and thousands of testers filling our ticket system. There are also services to provide to make this project a successful Open Source initiative.

Financial support is crucial for making the difference. The amount and quality of all aspect described above are directly proportional to our investing power.

Where We (Would Like To) Invest

Our investments are mainly dedicated on boasting our coding quality and volume, and provide services:

  • Dedicated development team - today, we have several hired developers that are dedicating their full or part time to our project. We still need strong investments to be done in this sense.
  • Web sites - there are many web sites to be maintained. For instance www, dev, svn and docs, and minor ones like, rev, irc and others. Part of our team spend much of their time on building and maintaining these sites. We still have a lot to do in this sense, to leverage the quality of our sites to a higher level, providing much more services.

We also plan to call professionals to help us on specific aspects of the project, like interface design, usability, accessibility, documentation, etc.

Sponsorship

We have just started our call for sponsors. We are inviting companies and individuals that believe in our project to take part on it. There are several benefits planned for sponsors. Check out our web site for more information.

Sponsorship is to become our main source of funding. Spread the word, and participate!

Other Funding Initiatives

There are also several other initiatives we are taking to help us providing the basic resources we need to move on:

  • Commercial License: we license FCKeditor under a special, non-copyleft license.
  • CKFinder: an advanced File Manager which integrates with FCKeditor.
  • Support: we provide a dedicated support channel by e-mail.
